In der Nachholpartie des 18. Spieltags haben die MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg ihren 20. Saisonerfolg gefeiert. Bei der BG Göttingen gewannen die Barockstädter mit 88:62.
Ohne Vier (Thiemann, Trice, Evans, Wiley) traten die Ludwigsburger vor 2.712 Zuschauern in Göttingen an. Neben den Verletzten hatten sich Trice und Wiley krankheitsbedingt abgemeldet (Grippevirus). Trotzdem glückte der Start (15:5), auch weil Thomas Walkup dem Spiel von erster Sekunde an Impulse verlieh. Nach zehn Spielminuten lagen die MHP RIESEN mit 24:11 schon mehr als solide in Führung. Der große Anfangsschwung ebbte im zweiten Viertel zunächst ab, Göttingen brachte den Rückstand zurück in den einstelligen Bereich. Ein 8:2 Lauf verschaffte den RIESEN schließlich wieder mehr Luft und verlieh zusätzliche Sicherheit, so dass Ludwigsburg zur Halbzeitpause mit 50:29 klar vorne lag.
Auch nach der Pause hatte das Team von Trainer John Patrick die Partie gut im Griff. Der Vorsprung hatte sich im Bereich der 20 Zähler eingependelt. Souverän spielten es die RIESEN über die zweite Halbzeit hinweg nach Hause. Endstand 88:62, der 20. Saisonerfolg in der easyCredit BBL ist somit perfekt. Nach Pluspunkten zogen sie somit mit dem Tabellenzweiten ALBA BERLIN gleich.
Bester Werfer des Abends war der Ex-Göttinger Malik Müller mit 17 Punkten. Thomas Walkup steuerte 16 Punkte und 4 Assists bei. Auf Seiten der BG Göttingen war Will Buford mit 15 Zählern der bester Werfer. Die Veilchen erwischten aus der Distanz einen schwachen Tag (nur 5/24 Dreier).
